ScrewMaker Remix of Sol Skugga's "Share Tonight"

This mix was done in Pro Tools 8.

Sol provided Drums, Bass, and Vocal Stems.

Used some of the original drum tracks layered with the new drum tracks during the choruses.

Used the original synth bass layered with a new bass from Xpand. They played tag throughout the song.

Added an arp using Motu's MX4, a super gnarly synth !!!

Drums programmed using Structure with a bunch of old AKAI sample libraries, a couple of loops chopped up on individual tracks, along with the proverbial 808 Kik 'O' Doom and some Crashes from my Secret Stash of Gnarly Samples.

Guitars were mostly tracked thru MainStage using various Logic amp sims and Waves GTR Solo.

Used a hotrodded Strat thru a Boss pedalboard with goodies such as Dunlop DimeBag modified wah (thanks Geno Lenardo from Filter !!!), Boss Turbo Overdrive, Distortion, Comp, EQ, Flanger, Phaser, Chorus, Tuners, and a Dunlop Volume Pedal.

And of course the E-Bow !!!

Mostly used Digi EQ and DDL, TL Space, BombFactory LA-2a, Fairchild, and JoeMeek EQ and Comp, T-Racks EQ, Maxim, and Nomad Factory Analog Trackbox for the mix.

I loaded some drum sounds from the "Finger Juice" library from Sweetwater Sound. I had converted it from EMU to NNXT format using cdXtract. Then loaded the individual samples into ReDrum. Also used were a TB303 sound loaded into NNXT and a doom kick in another ReDrum.

I then "Copied to Track" the Redrum sequences and added more hits and stuff and used groove files created from an old MPC60 in Digital Performer and then ported those to Reason via MIDI files to give the tracks some vibe. Lots of mixing and processing in Reason.

I then opened up Pro Tools 8 and ReWired the tracks in.

I added strings, brass, etc. with Structure and the UVI Worksation. In Structure I used a mix of the Goliath sound library and a bunch of stuff ported from EXS format including some strings from AKAI S1100. In UVI I used some UVI patches and some patches from MOTU Symphonic Instrument (MSI). Also two arps using MOTU MX4.

I used DIGI EQIII and BombFactory BF2-A for eq and dynamics on all tracks along with Pluggo Nebula on a creepy pad sound ReWired from Reason.

Most FX were in the patches or from Reason but for a delay and verb in PT. Mastered with BombFactory Pultec EQP-1A, Fairchild 660 and... believe it or not... Maxim !!!

Maxim is tricky to figure out, but does a good job after ya figure it out. LOL.

MainStage

Hello All,

I'm using MainStage with a MOTU 828 for a guitar rig. This has more or less (mostly more. LOL) replaced my old ART Rig which was replaced by my POD PRO Rig.

With MainStage on my laptop, I can configure all kinds of guitar patches. I also have some keyboard patches in there too.

I don't use amps unless it's live. Then, I prefer a Roland JC120 with a Marshall 1960A wired in stereo with my processors feeding the power amp inputs on the JC which then power the 1960A.

On the back of the 828 is a footswitch input. This input can execute keycommands, when closing and opening the switch. I have it execute an arrow down, which pages through MainStage patches. I do not use the up.

I only use a few patches and this works nicely for me.

I run the guitar into a pedal board with Dunlop and Boss pedals into the Mic/Line Input One on the 828. The pedal board has Boss Compressor, Turbo Overdrive, Graphic EQ (for solo boosts), Phaser, Flanger, Chorus and TU12 Tuner. Also a modified Dunlop Dimebag Wah and Volume pedal (for swells and tuning).

Sometimes I use my regular Dunlop Wah, a BOSS DS1 Distortion and TU2 Tuner also

It's pretty gnarly.
